He heard "labored breathing" from the bin and noticed a bag inside that "appeared to be moving." When he investigated, he found that someone had stuffed a small elderly dog into a trash bag and thrown it away. Even worse — the little animal was injured. The man quickly took the dog, "Baily," to local veterinarians, but the dog's condition was too severe. It died at the animal hospital. When authorities finally found Baily's actual owner, he admitted to throwing his dog away in a trash bag. According to him, the dog had run away from home and when he finally found Baily, the dog was "lying in the street," injured. He believed a coyote had attacked and bitten it. Veterinarians confirmed that Baily had a "puncture or bite wound" on its neck. But instead of rushing his dog to animal services or a veterinary hospital, this owner decided to literally throw his pet away. Veterinarians discovered that Baily was also the victim of severe dehydration, which suggests neglect even before the attack. This man is clearly not fit to take care of animals.
