Arfin,
A refugee family in Ontario is living a nightmare: they could be deported in the midst of their sick daughter's fight for her life. To add to the terror, the entire family faces potential political violence in their home country of Nigeria.
They are fighting for the chance to stay in Canada — but time is running out.
Amirat was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2022 after multiple misdiagnoses in Nigeria, where she was once even told she was "possessed" instead of sick.
Her treatment in North America saved her life, but she now needs ongoing care in Canada. If deported, she could lose access to vital medical treatment, putting her life in danger.
Even without Amirat's illness, returning to Nigeria would be perilous. Her father was kidnapped and nearly killed for his political affiliations within the government there, and the family remains at risk. Canada has long prided itself on compassion and human rights, but deporting this family would betray those values.
Canada must not turn its back on people in desperate need. We must urge Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to grant this family permanent residency on humanitarian and compassionate grounds! Please sign the petition today.
