action alert! Can you imagine living in fear for your life because of standing up for what you believe in? It happens in Thailand -- and when activists are murdered, their killers are hardly ever brought to justice.
Dear Arfin, What's more, reports suggest that the province police force knew Prajob was in danger. They warned him, for instance, that his continued quest to save his local environment could literally get him killed. Yet even as he reported to them that he was being stalked and photographed by strangers, they refused to provide him extra protection -- and Prajob wound up dead. This willful ignorance cannot continue. The Thai government must properly investigate the murders of Prajob Nao-opas and the other activists like him -- and implement protection policies that will ensure that no more of Thailand's activists are silenced by threatened or actual violence.
