Scientists and environmental activists have been warning the world about the dangers of microplastics for well over a decade. These tiny chemical contaminants have been found on the tops of remote mountains, in ocean water thousands of miles from human settlements, in table salt -- and even in the organs of human beings. Now that we know microplastics are transferring to newborn babies, who rely on breast milk or formula for the first months of their life, there is no excuse not to tackle this problem head on -- our babies deserve better.
P.S. If members of Congress care as much about children as they claim to in all of their anti-abortion ads, they must step up to protect children from the grave risks of microplastic pollution in breast milk. Sign the petition.
