Arfin, A police officer in South Bend, Indiana, has been charged with yet another act of violence. Just recently, he was found guilty of animal cruelty for brutally kicking a dog and throwing it from his truck a year ago. During that same incident, his ex-partner also observed him "roughly handling [their] daughter," leading neighbors to become concerned for her safety due to her obvious distress. Now — just last week — witnesses saw the man and his current girlfriend arguing in public. Afterwards, he apparently followed her home, where he began behaving in a "rough and aggressive manner." At that point, he grabbed his girlfriend hard enough to leave visible marks on her body and flung her to the ground.
Studies show that individuals who commit animal abuse are far more likely to engage in domestic violence and other forms of harm. Despite this clear pattern of ongoing violent behavior, this man remains an officer with the South Bend Police Department, only being temporarily relieved of duty while investigations are conducted.
What will it take for authorities to prioritize public safety over protecting this officer? Sign the petition today to demand that the South Bend Police Department immediately fire this dangerous man. |
