Arfin,
When Elvis was found wandering the streets of Sterling, Virginia, he had rescuers extremely worried. The 10-year-old Chinese Crested mix dog was in horrific condition and needed immediate veterinary attention.
But when rescuers went to the address found on Elvis' microchip in search of his owner, they realized the situation was even worse than they thought. Two more dogs, Elvis' littermates, were found dead and decomposing.
According to authorities, their owner had moved out and left the dogs behind, locked up without access to food or water for months.
Rescuers say that Elvis must have escaped from the property "and survived through consuming trash, rodents, insects, and the bodies of his deceased littermates."
This woman could have surrendered Elvis and his siblings to a shelter if she wasn't able to care for them or take them when she moved; instead, she decided to leave them locked up to slowly die, scared and confused. This is totally unacceptable. That's why we're asking that the responding authorities at the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office recommend a lifetime ban on owning animals as part of this woman's sentencing.
