Though the United Nations, last year, finally dedicated July 30 as the official International Day of Friendship, we still like to celebrate the unofficial Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. Especially since the UN resolution states that the goal of the International Day of Friendship is to promote "the international understanding, the respect for diversity and a culture of peace, between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals", something that is important on any day of the year.
