This is huge. For the first time in United States history, a president has been convicted of a felony.
If it wasn't clear before, it is abundantly clear now: Donald Trump is unfit to ever serve as president again.
Donald Trump was just found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in an effort to influence the results of the 2016 election.
Over the disgraced ex-president's head still looms three other indictments of which he could be found guilty. They are about his attempts to overturn or interfere with the 2020 election results, and the stealing and hoarding of classified documents. Basically what a tyrannical dictator would do.
But even if Trump is found guilty for his remaining three court cases, he could technically still run for president â€" and win. Shockingly, there is nothing in the law that stops a convicted felon from becoming president.
We cannot afford to let that happen. Think of all the damage he has already done. From appointing Supreme Court justices that have stripped away reproductive, voting, and protest rights to decimating environmental and endangered species protections to ousting whistleblowers and those who would stand up to him. The list goes on and on.
