The heat index was in the 100s, and the only way to stay safe and comfortable was to lay low in cool or air conditioned places. But a sweet bloodhound named Georgia was not able to stay safe. That's because she was left locked in a hot car that day — and she was in there so long, she tragically died. Georgia was a police dog, and she was left to die inside a hot patrol car by the officer meant to be caring for her.   The poor pup was inside the car for what the sheriff's office called "an unacceptable amount of time." During that extended period, the patrol car's air conditioning broke and the heat alarm failed to activate. Poor Georgia was all alone as she slowly roasted to death.
