Vegetable Garden Activism: A Story of Success Recently, thanks to a petition signed by over 30,000 Care2 members like yourself, city officials dropped charges against Oak Park, Michigan resident Julie Bass, who was facing a 93-day jail sentence for planting a vegetable garden in her front yard. "This campaign showed how viscerally people react to basic rights like growing food being threatened," explains petition author Mark Milotay.
